Think Happy Thoughts Choo Choo

It's time for another challenge at Speedy Fox and Friends and this week it's "silhouette."  I chose an image from the Train Talk set, one of the very first sets I won doing a challenge at MFP.  I challenged myself to use washi tape and the resulting card turned out to brighten my rainy day!

Hummingbird / OS 52

It's time for the Mark's Finest Papers/Speedy TV  Oriental Sketch Challenge.  My card uses a set called Oriental Joy.  I started with a background paper from Graphic 45's Bird Song.  Then cut some pink medallions from Spellbinders and embossed the hummer image from Oriental Joy.

Have a Sunny Day and CAS

Today's card is from a set called Bring on the Sun for a CAS challenge at Speedy Fox and Friends.   If you've read my blog or know me, you know I love daisy-like flowers.  Sunflowers are in that family so I love them as well.  I've also been collecting washi tape and challenged myself to use it on a CAS card for this challenge.  I pulled out my black EP, Twinkling H20's, and my Swiss dots embossing folder.  Voilá!

Oriental Screen

It's time for the Mark's Finest Papers/Speedy TV  Oriental Sketch Challenge.  My card uses a set called Koi Fish.  This is called an Oriental Screen Card.

The Beach Calls My Name...

Hello and welcome new followers:  Joejaykandi, Sanda, Vicki, Emily T, Shelly S, 3ickleangels, Judith, Benzi, Zella, aussie aNNie, Danielle V, and Debi.  If I missed anyone, let me know and if I repeated your welcome, you are welcome again!

What inspired the card I will share with you today?  We haven't been to the beach in quite a while and the beach is calling my name.  It was cold and gray when we went last winter so we should try to go again while the sun is out.  That is what inspired this card using Diane's Daydream Designs digis.  I couldn't decide how many of the shells to pop up so it turned out to be a fairly flat card.  Easy peasy mailing!

I love to use burlap with blue and so I was happy to use Diane's pre-colored image for the card. My Cuttlebug shell dies and wood-grained embossing folder seemed just right to finish off the card.

Hammock by the Sea

Give me a hammock by the sea, please.  The days of August just call us to the beach and sand between our toes.  Take a moment to create a mental hammock by the sea if you can't take a trip or if the sea isn't nearby.

Nine Squares and CAS

The theme at Speedy Fox and Friends is "nine squares."  I chose a set called Pocket Watches and punched inches for a CAS (clean and simple) card.  I mounted all the squares on a clock themed embossing folder and tied a simple jute bow.  Sometimes I like the KISS rule--Keep It Simple, Silly!

Tiny Tiger Lily / OS 50

It's time for the Mark's Finest Papers/Speedy TV Oriental Sketch Challenge.  My card uses a set called Flower Blocks.  It's one of the smallest images in the set so I was hoping I could make it dominant on the card.

I found the blue and gold paper in a stash given to me by a dear friend.  Thanks, Barbara!  But I had no metallic paper to match so I painted some glitter paint onto the white card stock card blank front.  I used some Spellbinders dies to frame the tiger lily, painted it with Twinkling H2O's in gold, of course, and kept popping up layers to create a stronger focus on the smaller  central image.  I love how it turned out and will have some difficulty giving this one away!

Feathers for a Friend

Welcome back!  The theme this week at Speedy Fox and Friends is "feathers."  I decided to make a masculine card using a set called Year of the Horse.  I used a wood grain embossing folder inked up to create the background.  Then sponging around the ovals and on the feathers.  I liked the subtle effect and stopped there.  Hope you like it and will join us at Speedy Fox and Friends for the challenge.

Happy Birthday, Beautiful! OS 49

It's time for the Mark's Finest Papers/Speedy TV  Oriental Sketch Challenge.  My card uses sets called Lucky You and Swallowtail.  I also used an embossing folder and 2 pieces of designer paper I made myself using the salt technique on matte and glossy paper.

Deedee's Anniversary Celebration

It's time to have a barrel of fun and do some monkey business at Deedee's Digis.  Look what I came up with-- a tent card.  Hope it makes you smile!

You need to stop in at Deedee's and see what fun she has planned for you this month.  New freebies!  New sets!  Giveaways! Weekly winners!   She's celebrating her anniversary and you get to celebrate too.  Stop in often during the month of August.  You will be glad you did!

What flower are you? Hydrangea?

I have many friends whose favorite flower is the hydrangea.  Somewhere online there are quizzes that tell you what flower you are based on your answers.  Your personality is revealed by how you react to situations presented. Then they tell you what flower you are based on those personality traits.

I love daisies best, but hydrangeas can be pink or shades of blue and lavender depending on the soil content and that they make such a statement when bunched in a large vase.  So today, I chose a set called Hydrangea and a sentiment from the Tiger Lily set for my Speedy Fox and Friends card.  The theme is "stamped background."  This set comes with some smaller hydrangea flowers that I stamped onto an acrylic-block-with-ink background we tried a few weeks ago.  It was so much fun, I had to use it again for this card.

This is the first time I have used this set and I love it.  The main image is popped up and embossed in blue EP,  and colored with Twinkling H20's and chalked in the centers, with a blue embossed sentiment so that this card really shines.

My hydrangea bushes will not bloom this year but we are just happy they survived the last winter.  This stamp set will have to take the place of those huge blooms I usually put into a vase to enjoy.
Join me at these challenges.

Hope, Courage, and Strength

Today I am wearing my happy DT hat and showcasing images and sentiments from Diane's Daydream Designs. I used a set from the Awareness section at the store dedicated to the awareness of Lyme Disease.  These cards are dedicated to my friend Sandra, lost to Lyme Disease.  It's tick season so in August, check often and be careful.

Find more Awareness sets and images, and encouraging sentiments  at Diane's Daydream Designs.

Making Memories

Summer is travel time so will you head for the beach?  To visit family?  Or a "stay-cation?"  Whatever the destination, be sure to make memories.  That's the theme of my card today using a sentiment and images from Diane's Daydream Designs.  The set is called On the Move and I chose a "stand up card" for my fancy fold.

When the recipient opens the card, it will look like this as they pull it out of the envelope.

Here's another view of the card in an almost bird's eye view so you can get a better look at the cute bug and paper I used for the inside.

Have fun this summer!
